Hart Buckendahl says he will throw his hat in the ring if an election is called for the mayor’s job in Penticton.
Buckendahl was the Mayor of Oliver in the early 1990’s and now lives in Penticton. He says he would want to bring some “fun” back to the job as he has sat on the regional board and around the council table and knows it can be a highly entertaining job representing people. He says it appears to be way too serious and a lot of struggles with municipal staff.
Buckendahl is a contractor working with his son in building homes. He won the Order of BC for his involvement in bringing modern “power-smart” technology into residential housing.
He said the people around him said, even though an election has not been called, he should announce now. A by-election in Penticton would not be called until after the next provincial election and a victory of Dan Ashton in that race for the Liberal Party.
