Well as I was searching for money under the drawers of this old desk, I see Oliver Lumber Co. in blue crayon. Now, my Dad said it was from one of the origional canneries in Oliver and it caught fire and nearly burned the Cannery down, as is evidenced by the burnt underneath of the desk. Also the small ruler stuck in one compartment ” Wapakoneta ” Machine Co. may evidence it as a local cannery piece. Do you smell a story here somewhere for ODN? Anyways, someone built this by hand as a one of a kind, functional sturdy piece of commercial furniture, which just doesn’t happen anymore. I just figured, Oliver Lumber Co ? Who built this and when?
1940’s ? If anyone knows, it will be the readership of ODN ! I’m going to re-purpose the desk, and keep appreciating it.
