On November 9, 2012 Oliver RCMP received a report of decapitated pigs on the hike and bike trail on the east side of the river, near Rd 9 on Black Sage Rd. RCMP member and RDOS Bylaws Officer attended and observed 4 severed pigs heads, along with packaged meats and hog feed bags full of entrails. Indicators were that the animals appeared to have been slaughtered very recently. No identifiers on the hog feed bags or butcher packaging. There are a few local farms nearby, some that have hogs, but unable to determine who would have dumped the waste. There is an ongoing issue of illegal dumping in the area as the trail is publicly accessible and vehicles are able to access path. Any public information should be forwarded to the Oliver RCMP, RDOS By Law Enforcement or through the Crime Stoppers Information process.
On November 10, 2012 Oliver RCMP received a report of a theft of a roofing ladder. The complainant parked his work truck on Bank Ave, near the RBC and was away from the vehicle between 2100 & 0100 Hours. The thief cut the bungy-cords which held the ladder to his truck and stole a commercial grade 1 30 ft ladder with yellow feet worth approx $400. Possible witnesses are requested to contact the Oliver RCMP directly or provide information through the Crime Stoppers program.
On November 10, 2012 Oliver RCMP received a report of diesel fuel from the Fire Chief of the Willowbrook Volunteer Fire Dept on Willowbrook Rd. The Fire Chief reported that sometime overnight, unknown person(s) cut the locks off their diesel tank and fence and stole between 400-500 litres of diesel fuel (worth approx $400-500). This is the second time a fuel theft has occurred in the last 4-5 months and thefts like this have a significant effect on a small budget extremely valuable organization like this. Any information on these thefts should be forwarded directly to the Oliver RCMP directly or anonymously through the Crime Stoppers program.
On November 9th, 2012 the Oliver RCMP received several complaints of youth throwing eggs at vehicles and residences.. Members of the public are requested to report anything of this nature so that targeted patrols can be made in an effort to locate these youth. What might start out as a prank could have serious ramifications for those that are targeted.
On November 12th, 2012 Oliver RCMP responded to a single vehicle MVI on Black Sage Road at Saskatoon Ave in Oliver, BC. The driver was uninjured however, the vehicle was upside down in an orchard at that location. Icy Roads appear to have been the cause of the accident. This event should serve as a reminder that winter driving conditions are in effect and drivers should use the appropriate caution especially during early morning and evening driving.
