TIMMY’S CHRISTMAS TELETHON
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9TH, 2012
Vancouver, BC – Helping a family with a child in need is as easy as turning on the TV and watching the 25th annual Timmy’s Christmas Telethon. The live telethon which raises funds for the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities will air on Shaw owned TV stations throughout the province of British Columbia and will be simulcast on Shaw Direct channel 299 beginning at 4pm on Sunday, December 9th, 2012.
Building on the success of last year’s Timmy’s Christmas Telethon which raised more than $6 million, this year’s show will be hosted by popular Global BC and Shaw TV personalities and will feature 6 hours of musical entertainment, celebrity guests, and inspiring stories showcasing special families and the services required by their children. These services are supported by the funds raised through events like the telethon and the generous support of telethon donors. The telethon also recognizes the many good works of caring individuals and organizations that assist and support the society throughout the year.
Since 1952 the BC Lions Society has been ‘Helping Give Children Abilities’ by providing Easter Seals services and programs that enrich the lives of BC’s children by promoting self esteem, confidence and independence. The Society assists children with physical and cognitive disabilities. They fund province-wide specialized services like the Easter Seals Camps, Easter Seal Houses, the Lions Laser Skin Care Centre, Patient Care Grants, and the Lions Vancouver Hospital Helipad. They also assist in funding college scholarships to support youth with disabilities to further their education.
