“It’s painful what we are going through – at the moment”

Those words from Chief Dan Skaros about the amount of open burning in the rural Oliver area. Why? Because permission to burn is necessary and not often asked for.

Venting index must be within an acceptable range and permission granted.

There is only one number to call for locals – 250-490-4125. No other number should be used. This number will give a venting index and stated permitable times for rural agricultural burning.

Skaros says the farmers and land owners should also call the Fire Department to advise of burning in the open.
