I have to admit there were too many meetings on last night. I had a council meeting on Kootenay Street until 8:30pm. I checked the School Board meeting on Okanagan Street after that and then noticed the number of cars still parked near the post office – all at the Smart Meters’ meeting being held nearby.
Jerry Flynn, a retired CAF wireless radio specialist was speaking to a packed hall with about 75 people in attendance.
The speaker was well versed and information was circulated on who/where to write regarding opposition to Fortis’s request to the Utility Commission to install smart meters. He has a formal background through the military regarding the use and application of radio, micro, cellular, and radiation wave technology. Lots of graphs shown but in general he got the point across that Smart Meters are not all that smart… at least from a health standpoint.
BC Utilities Commission to hold public hearing November 7 on application from Fortis BC to install such meters.
“Crowd was 75 plus. People were out in entry way and also seen coming down the street. Had 69 signatures on petition. This is a big issue. Lots of people care.
Notice of Utilities Commission hearing was in Kelowna paper on Oct. 4. Didn’t reach the Chronicle until last week Oct. 17 after the Oct.15 deadline for signing up. Why so long. This is typical for Fortis. Commission Secretary says the Public can register to speak if they come 15 min before sessions and sign up. Hearings are being held November 7th: 3-5 and 6-9 p.m. at Spirit Ridge in Osoyoos.” – Judy Nicholas
“I was at the meeting and got a front row seat. The place was absolutely packed. The speaker was very clear, spoke with knowledge and passion and gave lots of excellent sources on the net where we can get more information and verify what he had to say. It was a lot to take in for those of us who are not familiar with electro magnetic fields and astonishing to gain a beginning understanding of the impact on our health. The motions of the RDOS and the Town of Oliver were mentioned as well as the stance of many other communities. The shocking thing was to learn that if we do nothing, a smart meter can be installed on our private property without our express permission.” – Marion Boyd
“The Smart Meter information meeting was packed tonight” – Celia Newman
“It was mentioned that both the Town of Oliver and the RDOS have made motions in opposition to Smart Metering which was met with applause from the crowd. It must not be forgotten that wireless water metering also emits EMRs. It is amazing that we keep thinking we are progressing forward with all this electrical technology, yet in reality we are harming ourselves and the environment in a multitude of ways” – Jim Ruhland
