Okanagan Regional Library’s
Vernon Branch awarded best community building
Okanagan Regional Library’s Vernon Branch won the award for best community building, and then the Judge’s Choice Award for the best overall building at the 2012 Thompson Okanagan Commercial Building Awards on October 18.
“Board members are very happy to have the recognition they feel the building deserves”, said Carol Zanon, Library Board Chair. “CEI, the architects, Task Construction, Board members, and library staff, all spent a lot of time and effort to deliver a great building that will serve Vernon and the North Okanagan well for now and into the future.”
Zanon also noted that the City of Vernon assisted the project by donating the land, Vernon and Coldstream purchased the new shelving and public area furnishings, and that Telus, and the Vernon Friends of the library had donated funding for a number of items inside the building.
The Award was picked up by Don Nettleton, Finance Manager for the Okanagan Regional Library District, and Maureen Curry, the Vernon Branch Librarian.
