South Okanagan residents will get the rare opportunity to dispose of an unlimited amount of yard waste heading into the leafy month of November.
The Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen is asking residents in electoral areas A, B, C, and G to leave out on the curbsides unlimited amounts of leaves, grass, and prunings during the Weeks of Oct. 29 and Nov. 26.
The RDOS says waste should be left in re-usable containers (garbage bins, etc.) or in yard waste bags. Sticks under three feet in length and three inches in diameter can be bundled together using string or twine. However, larger branches, loose material, food waste, unbagged sod pieces, and lumber will not be collected. All containers and bundles must weigh less than 50 pounds (25kg).
“Residents living in electoral areas D, E, and F; Penticton, Summerland, Oliver, Osoyoos, and Keremeos receive more frequent yard waste collections,” says RDOS board chair Dan Ashton. “Please consult your curbside collection calendar or contact your local government office for details.”
