OK Falls StrongStart, Preschool, and K-7 Students were fortunate to experience second annual visits from six “Raise a Reader” Authors & Illustrators during October. This literacy building opportunity enabled students to share in real life read aloud experiences and receive keepsake books to take home and enjoy with their families and friends. A special thank you to RAR coordinator Mrs. Yasmin John-Thorpe and guest Authors/Illustrators: Vita – book “Oolly-The Garden Gnome”, Catherine- book “ Zoe and the Fawn”, Sheri – book “Sherry in the Cherry Orchard”, Darcee –book “ Cedric the Cedar”, Rena Groot’s grade 3 class from Penticton Christian School – book “Pioneer Living in the 1900s”, Penny – book “Wanted: Ogopogo Lake Monster – Dead or Alive”, and Endrene –book “ I’m Big in Japan.” OK Falls School staff, students, and families are grateful to all community members who contribute to Raise a Reader programming as this invaluable non-profit organization continues to foster a love of literacy in our schools, homes, and communities year after year.
