Further investigation shows that Greyhound is seeking to eliminated 15 routes in BC (2.2 million miles of travel) and has told the BC government that if the changes are not authorized and a saving of 6.75 million dollars is not attained – “it will cease scheduled service in BC”.
The present license for service in BC expires in August of next year. Response from the public will be closed off on October 24, 2012.
Greyhound says it has lost about 14 million dollars in the last fiscal year and seeks relief from its obligation as agreed to in the past. This information gleaned from the company’s website and attachments to its recent application.
The BC Passenger Transportation Board will face the applicantĀ on this matter shortly.
