Between the evening hours of October 10, 2012 and the early morning hours of October 11, 2012 a 28 year old transient male who was temporarily calling this area home, went on a crime spree in the community of Oliver BC.
In less then 36 hours this subject slashed the tires on at least 14 separate vehicles. The ‘at least’ aspect of this statement takes into account that it is highly likely that not all of the vehicles that were damaged have been reported to the RCMP as of this media release.
Although the individual damage to these vehicles is less than $5,000, the total damage is expected to exceed that mark. Further to the damage to the vehicles and while the accused was under arrest, he also physically assaulted uniformed police officer while he was in the lawful execution of his duty. Therefore, not only are 14 counts of Mischief being requested but, a single count of Assault Peace Office is also suggested. This subject made his first appearance in Provincial Court today.
The ability to successfully identify the suspect in these events was not only the result of a short response time by Oliver RCMP but also due to the support of local (Oliver) witnesses.
If you see crime happen, call Crime Stoppers or your nearest RCMP detachment.
