The Town of Oliver has received word that Greyhound Canada is asking permission from the BC Passenger Transportation Board to reduce the southbound service from twice a day to once a day. (Route C – Vancouver to Rock Creek via Penticton)
Councillors asked the Mayor to take the matter to the RDOS board in Penticton as many other communities would be affected if this proposal is agreed to.
It was pointed out at the meeting that reducing the south bound route means that if you use the bus to get to Penticton – you cannot return the same day.
Town staff will also construct a letter, for signature, to the Passenger Transportation Board stating in no uncertain terms – this is not a good idea and would have negative effects on people needing such transportation.
