Recently the owners of property south of Road 1 on Highway 97 were asked if they wanted to join the Town. That decision followed a presentation by the Malcolm Family to have their parcel of land south of the new Mall included – so that it could be serviced for some future development.
45 property owners were sent a letter. Less than half replied. Of those that answered ten were in favour and 11 against.
Council on Tuesday will consider a number of recommendations from staff:
1. Defer consideration of any boundary expansion until 2013 when RDOS and Town discuss a Regional Growth Boundary
2. Apply to the province to expand boundaries into the surveyed area
3. Ask two owners of property south of the Mall to enter into a possible incorporation of these properties
Staff are recommending either 1 or 3 and not 2.
