After a long battle that fractured the B.C. labour movement, a majority of licensed practical nurses have voted to leave the Hospital Employees’ Union and join the B.C. Nurses’ Union.
“We won a clear majority in all six of the health authorities,” says British Columbia Nurses’ Union president Debra McPherson.
McPherson said the result means more than 7,200 LPNs will become members of her union as early as next week.
