Talked to Chief Jonathan Kruger this morning about elections that will be held October 24th on the reserve in Penticton.

Kruger has served for 4 years and it is time for another confirmation of leadership of chief and council.

Kruger is challenged by councillor Laurie Wilson, Arnie Baptiste, Lavern Jack, Joe Johnson and Joseph Baptiste. Once this initial election takes place- then the band will select six councillors. This system allows anyone who does not win in this first race to get nominated for the lesser position.

Present councillors are: Joseph Pierre, Joan Gabriel, Tim Lezard, Clinton Gabriel, Laurie Wilson, Kevin Gabriel, Joan Phillip and Naomi Gabriel.

Chief Kruger says he has really enjoyed being chief and serving his people and is confident of success.
