The BC government has backed down on privatizing the warehouse distribution of liquor in this province.
The BCGEU has settled with the government on a multi-year contract with increases. Union president Darryl Walker said the tentative deal gives the 26,000 government workers a four per cent wage increase over two-years.
The government has announced 200 million dollars in highway infrastructure spending including the four laning of Highway 1 – Kamloops to the Alberta border and an expansion of the Massey Tunnel on Highway 99 south of Vancouver. This is a ten year plan to replace the old infrastructure.
