On September 19th, Osoyoos RCMP attended at the Osoyoos Port of Entry to assist with impaired driver that Canada Border Services Agency had detained. The joint investigation resulted in the 46 year old male driver from West Kelowna receiving a 3 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition
On September 19th, Police investigated the driver of a van which had gone off the roadway on Highway 3 by Richter Pass. As a result of the Police impaired driver investigation the 26 year old male driver from Pennsylvania received a 90 day driving prohibition and his van was impounded for 30 days
On September 21st, at approximately 10:18 pm, the RCMP were called to assist the Osoyoos Fire Department who were at the scene of a garbage bin fire at Safari Beach. Bright orange graffiti was observed on the dumpster which may or may not be related. If anyone has information on this arson please contact the Osoyoos RCMP.
Several calls were made to the RCMP over the weekend regarding geese being hunted in the Town boundaries. The hunting is part of an Osoyoos Town sanctioned goose cull. The hunters have a permit from the Town and the appropriate licenses to safely conduct this activity which they have provided to the RCMP.
On September 23rd, an Osoyoos RCMP member on patrol observed a Brown Pontiac Trans Am with no license plates make an illegal U turn. The car was stopped by Police and the driver was found to have been drinking alcohol and open liquor was found in the car. As result of the investigation the 18 year old male driver from Duncan received Violation Tickets for: Drive Contrary to License Conditions, Fail to Produce License, No License Plate, No Insurance, and Possess Open Liquor in Motor Vehicle.
