Fire call about 3 o’clock requesting fire suppression near Vaseux Lake. Some confusion on location but that helped as both the OK Falls and Oliver Fire departments responding. Initial request from RCMP – first on the scene. Civilians fought the grass and tree fire for about 15 minutes trying to get control
The two fire departments tried to get it under control – with a water bomber expected momentarily to dump a load on the smoke and fire about 7 miles north of Oliver.
Traffic on Highway 97 is at a standstill until the bombers have the fire under control.
