Some time ago we told you Jim Wyse was floating the idea of covering the Oliver Pool for winter use. Jim being a man of his word – brought conceptual drawings prepared by architect Dominic Unsworth to the Oliver Parks and Recreation Society on Monday night. Wyse told the board of directors that while investigating the cost of a storage facility for wine he was impressed with the relative low cost of such metal structures. He estimates that Oliver could cover the pool with a good looking building for less than a million dollars. Jim is the owner of the Burrowing Owl Winery south of Oliver off Black Sage Rd.
A bit of history – a proposal for a new pool was defeated in a referendum in 2008. That ticket price was 6.4 million for a completely new facility.
The board of directors of the Parks Society were impressed with the presentation but stated it would need a lot of investigation and that its future hangs on the cost of operations and the will of the people in the area to use and pay for it.

What do you think? – look for the poll at right.
