On September 03, 2012 a male subject described as “Caucasian, 5’10”-5’11” Heavy set/muscular, blonde or light brown hair under a black and white baseball cap with lightning symbols on it, a white under shirt, black shorts to his knees, black and white flip flops and a white wrist band on his left wrist” attended a local business and attempted to make a significant purchase using a prepaid credit card. When challenged by the store clerk the male attempted to use another credit card that was obviously fake. The suspect subsequently left the store without being identified. Between this event and police notification the male attended to an Osoyoos business and made a similar unsuccessful attempt. Video images of the suspect are available and public assistance would be appreciated.
On September 4th, 2012 at approximately 6:20 PM the Oliver RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision in the area of Highway 97 at Road 3 near Oliver. Investigation showed that a south bound pickup truck being driven by a 48 year old Osoyoos resident struck a second pickup truck being driven by an 81 year old Oliver resident as the second pickup truck was stopped in the south bound lane waiting to turn east into a driveway. Non life threatening injuries were sustained by the occupants of both vehicles. The driver of the offending vehicle is being investigated for alcohol related offences.
On September 06, 2012 the Regional plain clothes section, working out of Oliver, executed a search warrant at an Oliver residence. As a result of the search 66 grams of cocaine and in excess of $5,000 cash was seized. Drug related charges are being sought against a 34 year old Oliver resident who is well known to police.
