Two members of the BCGEU demonstrate frustration with contract talks by withdrawing services for 4 hours Wednesday in Oliver and throughout the province. No sign or workers off the job at Liquor Store or Human Resources offices at 8:30 this morning.
Approximately 25,000 BCGEU members are striking in 153 communities and at more than 700 government worksites across B.C. The strike will last one day.
“We are looking for a fair and reasonable agreement, but the government is not listening. We have no choice but to send a clear message to government: there can be no more falling behind for all government workers.” said BCGEU President Darryl Walker. “We’ve not taken the decision to strike lightly. Our last strike in direct government was more than 20 years ago.”
