The Canadian government is giving $407 thousand through gas tax funding for the project which will cost almost a million dollars to construct the Buchanan Road well, state of the art disinfection technology and a crossing of the river (beneath) improving the reliability of the new system north of Oliver.
Drinking water standards have increased in the last few years and several downtown wells have been and will be taken out of service because of high mineral content.
MP Albas stated that his government is interested in funding safer drinking water. Mayor Hovanes says the funding will help bring clean water to domestic and rural water users. MLA Slater said this project is vital to protecting the health of BC families.
