On Aug 21st, Police were called to a disturbance on Main Street. Members of the Public made a Citizens arrest of a male who had previously stolen items from vehicles. The male was turned over to Police custody and a stolen IPOD was located. The male was lodged in cells and then led Police to an area where a stolen IPOD, Samsung Tab, and a knife with leather sheath from Costa Rica were recovered. The male 19 year old male from Nova Scotia was released on a Recognizance to appear inPenticton Court at a later date.
On August 23rd, at approximately 3:00 am, Police were called to assist the Osoyoos Fire Department with a house fire at3008-25th Street, Osoyoos. Fire fighters were already on scene working on the house which was engulfed in fire.
On August 23rd, an Osoyoos Police Officer on patrol on Highway 3 West of Osoyoos observed a White BMW 335 traveling at a high rate of speed. The car was clocked on radar traveling at 153 km/hr in a 100 km/hr posted speed zone. Police stopped the vehicle and the 53 year old male from Vancouver received a ticket for Excessive Speed and 7 day vehicle impoundment.
On August 24th, Osoyoos RCMP Officers responded to a report of a collision on Osoyoos Lake between a Boat and a Sea Doo. Police found the driver of the Sea Doo injured with what appeared to be a fractured leg and bleeding from the face. The 48 year old male Osoyoos resident who was the driver of Sea Doo was transferred to thePenticton Hospital where he was admitted for surgery. The Police investigation is ongoing at this time.
Over the last week Police issued 5 Liquor Act tickets and 1 warning to people drinking alcohol on Gyro Beach.
