With a brief explanation as to why I crop some submitted pictures. Many images are sent at high resolution (larger format). To get the maximum amount of picture up close they are cropped to 651 X 651 pixels – the size of the blog window.

If I just reduced what you might send – then the image is sized right but does not jump out at you.
