There have been continued thefts from boats and unlocked motor vehicles in Osoyoos. Please removed and lock valuables from cars and boats and report any suspicious people or behavior to the Police.
On August 14th, the RCMP received a report that sometime during the night someone had entered a boat onPonderosa Driveand had stolen the stereo system, amps, life jackets, sub woofers, wet suits, ipod, and speakers.
On August 14th, a second report was received by Police that a stereo had been stolen from another boat parked onPonderosa Drive.
On August 15th, RCMP in Osoyoos received a report that an unlocked Ford pick up onWillow Crescenthad been entered and things thrown around inside. Nothing was missing out of the truck but this has happened several times in recent months at this address.
On August 17th, Police were dispatched to a disturbance outside of Smitty’s restaurant. An intoxicated female was arrested for causing a disturbance and lodged in cells until sober. Her male friend gave Police a false name and was later arrested for an outstanding warrant of arrest fromVictoria. The 25 year old male was held in custody to appear inPenticton court Monday.
On August 18th, Police responded to a report of a male walking by Walnut Beach Resort waving a gun in the air and shooting out street lights. Police patrols located 2 males matching the description of the suspect and a subsequent search for guns located a black pellet gun in a bag being carried by one of the males. The pellet gun was seized by Police and a broken Street light was examined by Police with pellets matching those in the pellet gun being found. A 27 year old male from Osoyoos is subject a criminal charge of Mischief Under $5000.00
On August 18th, at approximately 4:48 am, Police were called to assist the Osoyoos Fire Department with a house fire on 74th Avenue. There were no in juries from the fire and the Osoyoos Fire Department is investigating the fire.
On August 18th, Police received a report that overnight 2Kawasaki jet skis were stolen from where they had been moored to the front of the Watermark. The jet ski’s are described as a 1996 jet ski black and white and a 1998 jet ski green, purple and white. Police made patrols of the lake and numerous jet skis were checked but the stolen jet skis have not yet been found.
On August 18th, Osoyoos RCMP members were dispatched to a complaint of an intoxicated male that had fallen from a hill behind a residence. Prior to Police attendance the injured male had fled on foot back up into Crown land. When Police arrived they were approached by a man who reported that the suspect had broken into his residence onAugusta Laneand his wife had scared him off. Police searched for the fleeing male locating him in a rural area where he was arrested. The 24 year old male from Oliver was held for court and faces a criminal charge of Breaking and Entering.
On August 19th, Police responded to a report of several thefts from vehicles at the Westridge Inn. Numerous items were reported stolen including a cell phone, a motorcycle seat, and partially full beer coolers. Some of the stolen items were found hidden in the area and Police recovered a beer cooler from a male who stated he had found the cooler.
