Our year as Oliver Ambassadors is quickly coming to an end, but before we officially retire here’s one last update on the amazing year we’ve had. We attended 12 pageants in other communities, and were a part of numerous community events as well. We would not have had the chance to travel to other communities without our chaperones! They are very much appreciated. The opportunity to represent Oliver was one we’ll never forget. There are several people without whom this year would not have been the same. Firstly to the town of Oliver thank-you for your support, it has been an honour representing Oliver. To Mayor Hampson, Mayor Hovanes, and Area C Director Alan Patton, thank you for being supportive of the Oliver Ambassador Program. It was truly an honor to attend functions with you throughout the year. To Parks and Rec, and Carol Sheridan, thank you so much for involving us in fun events like the Easter Egg Hunt, Breakfast with Santa, the Sunshine festival and many more. To our sponsors the Lions Club, Canadian Tire, and the Catholic Womens League thank-you for your sponsorship, without you we would not have had the opportunity to become candidates or Ambassadors. This year has changed our outlook on our community immensely. We became familiar with many more facets of this town than we knew before. We worked with some amazing community members and volunteers who made us proud to be Ambassadors. The best thing about this community is how close knit and appreciative we all are. A big thank-you to Gisele Cleave and Nav Gill for running the Oliver Ambassador Program during our candidacy and encouraging teens to join and take a leadership role in our town. You have taught us all to be happy with who we are and to be confident in ourselves because what really matters is on the inside. You have created another definition of the word Ambassador. Although Nav and Gisele did a wonderful job during our candidacy, our year as Ambassadors would not have been possible if Lori Martine didn’t take the program into her hands. We were honored to be your first group of girls. We hope you continue with this program as we know you will do great things with it! Thank you for making our year not only possible, but enjoyable. To Lisa Kunz, thank you for taking on the task of running candidacy. We are so grateful that more youth can have the same opportunity that we had. To the committee, thank you so much for your endless hours that you put into the program. Without you, nothing would have been possible! As one door closes another door opens. We’ve had quite the experience this past year, but it’s time for a new team of Ambassadors. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for us, the new Ambassadors and the Oliver Ambassador program.
With that being said, we are, and forever will be, Oliver Ambassadors 2011/2012 Nikki Brar – Carly Craik – Gagan Ganger (as shown in photo)
