On August 8, 2012 the RCMP were notified of a poorly reproduced Canadian $100 bill being located in a business deposit as received by a local financial institution. The issue of counterfeit currency is something that all business owners should be alive to and, if there is any question as to the legitimacy of currency being used by a member of the public please take the extra time to contact a local expert either through a Bank, Credit Union or the RCMP. On August 9, 2012 Oliver Public Works recovered a 50cc MC from the Canal at the bridge near Lions Park. The owner of the motorcycle can recover this property by attending to the Oliver Works yard and identifying it to staff at that location.
On August 12, 2012 at approx 16:45 Hours Oliver RCMP was advised by Oliver Fire of a 2 vehicle MVI at Skagit Avenue and Okanagan St in Oliver, BC. Police attended and located a red VW Cabriolet with front end damage and a grey Subaru Forester with damage to the front passenger side panel and tire. Driver of the Subaru stated she was traveling west on Skagit Ave when the red VW pulled out from Okanagan St intersection and hit her passenger side. The driver and registered owner of the VW confirmed that she was turning left onto Skagit Ave and that she didn’t see the Subaru heading west. Minor facial injuries were sustained by a passenger in the VW, The driver of the VW was issued a Violation Ticket for failing to yield after stop. Speed and alcohol were not factors in this crash.
