Oliver Airport hosted its annual Fly-In Breakfast Saturday. Pilots came from many parts of our province. Notably, a pilot flying the famous Burt Rutan designed ‘VARIEZE’ plane flew in from Lower Mainland. The planes were exceptional but one visit to Ab Moshanski’s hangar was the highlight of my day. Ab, a pilot for 45 years, boasts the hangar of hangar hide-a-ways. There are 3445 caps adorning the ceiling and flight memorabilia throughout. One poster of Ab’s, reads “Flying is the second greatest thrill; landing is the first!” Ab began flying at the age of 40 and his Blue Bird Cessna has taken him flying all over North America. His detailed flight map shows flights as far south into the Caribbean as Trinidad and as far north as Alaska.
