The family of Leonor Serpa de Melo (da Silva) announce with great sadness, the end of her battle with cancer at the age of 70. Leonor is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Bartolomeu; their children George and (Olinda) Demelo, Lucy and (Tim) Riley, Teresa and (Andrew) Hiob; her grandchildren Dan (Megan), George Jr. (Shannon), Devin, Rachel, Ryan, Paige, Liam and Carter; great-grand daughters Kelsey and Kiera, her sisters Maria Serpa, Olga Escobar, Alice Avila and Teresa da Silva and many members of her extended family. Leonor is now reunited with her daughter Maria Tereza de Melo, her parents Manuel Maria and Lucinda da Silva, and sister Conceição Silveira. Leonor will be most remembered for being a loving wife, Grandma (Avo), and Tia. She is also remembered for inspiring others with her intense faith and love of God, her Portuguese guitar and mandolin playing, singing voice, baking, her ability to make people laugh, and love of life with her family and friends. Leonor’s words of wisdom and stories of laughter will live on in those whose lives she touched. A special thank you to Dr. Mark Hamilton, Dr. Marianne Taylor and nurses Marisa Ruhland, Kanwal Gill and Lynn Wilson. Funeral Mass will be held this Saturday, August 11 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church.
