(November 7, 1934 – August 3, 2012)
David Gordon Lindsay was born in Vernon, B.C. Nov 7, 1934 and died in Oliver B.C. on Aug 3, 2012 at age 77. He passed away peacefully at home, after a cruel battle with lung cancer, bravely borne. He was predeceased by his parents Judge Gordon and Mrs. Estelle Lindsay (Ellis) of Vernon.
David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diane; son, Craig Lindsay of Castlegar; daughter Maggie Lindsay-Tadey (Brad) and grandchildren Caitlin and Megan Tadey of Cranbrook; brother Ellis (Marilyn) Lindsay of Sidney; sister Doreen (John) Ritchie of Kelowna; brother-in-law Roy (Inez) Jardine of Calgary; nieces and nephews; and his faithful furry friend Summer.
Dave joined the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in Vernon after graduating from Vernon High School in 1952,and went on to serve in Princeton, Dawson City, Yukon, Mission, Penticton (where he met Diane), Abbotsford, Cranbrook, Kelowna, Chilliwack, Vanderhoof, Prince Rupert, Cranbrook (again), Vernon and Vancouver – gathering many faithful friends along the way.
After working for 38 1/2 years, he retired to Oliver in 1989 and built a retirement home on Tuc El Nuit Lake where he and Diane have resided most happily.
Dave belonged to the Kinsmen Club for many years followed by years with Rotary where he received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He also chaired the Sunnybank Retirement Centre Board for 5 years. Dave joined Fairview Mountain Golf Club in 1990 and it became his second home. He was Senior Captain for 10 years and he made many, many good friends. He will be sorely missed.
Family and friends will gather for a tree planting and memorial service at Fairview Mountain Golf Club at 3pm on Wednesday, August 15th. Reception to follow at the Clubhouse.
