Every Tuesday in August from 2pm-4pm, South Okanagan Immigrant and Community Services (SOICS) will host Open Houses with activities including food, music, a showcase of traditional Indian clothing and more!
The South Okanagan Immigrant and Community Services (SOICS) believes in a just and equitable society which values the diverse mix of all cultures and peoples calling Canada their home and its services are a reflection of this belief.
Services offered by SOICS Include:
• English Language Services for Adults (ELSA) o Basic intermediate level English trainingo Lessons about Canadian laws, health care, society, job market o Lessons about Canadian Workplace Culture • Senior Immigrant Program o Assistance with access to government services and resources o ELSA element & computer training
• Computer Classes
o Computer skills training for beginners to intermediate (training on applications such as MS Office, differences between MAC and Windows, how to e mail or send; basics of web browser, how to search the internet, etc…)
• Settlement Services o Assistance in the immigration process (orientation to Canadian systems, services, life and culture, assistance with immigration forms, choosing a school, getting Medical [MSP], etc…)
• Employment Program o Enhanced Employment Services (interviewing skills and practice, job postings, career exploration, etc…) o Labor Market Mentorship o Learning
• Community Bridging o Mentor Programs (adult, youth and senior and early childhood education) • Volunteer Program o Gain work experience, learn about other cultures and participate in fun events while giving back to the community SOICS Oliver invites you to join us at an Open House and learn more about our FREE services while meeting new people and having some fun!
