On July 23rd, Police recovered a Sea Doo washed up on shore in front of the Sage Pub. The owner was later identified and the Sea Doo was returned.
On July 24th, Police responded to a report of a Sea Doo collision. Investigation revealed that a 47 year old female had fallen off on a sharp turn catching her foot on the Sea Doo causing a leg injury. Police assisted Ambulance with extracting the female who was taken to hospital.
On July 24th, Police responded to a report of a half submerged boat byWillowBeach. A local resident offered to tow the abandoned boat and secure it back onto shore
Osoyoos RCMP received a report of a suspicious hit and run. A male claimed that he was backing out of a parking spot onMain StreetinOsoyoos,BCwhen he heard a bicycle hit his vehicle from the opposing side of traffic. He ran out to find a female lying on the ground beside her gold bike. The driver asked if the female was okay to which she stated she was but wanted money and a ride home which the driver provided.
On July 26th, Police were called to a report of a people throwing things out of a moving vehicle at persons on the roadway. Police made patrols and located the suspect vehicle. The 23 year old male Driver from Osoyoos was uncooperative with Police and received a Ticket for Depositing Litter on a Highway.
On July 27th, at approximately 6:30 pm, an RCMP officer on foot patrol ofGyroBeachobserved a male with open liquor. The beer was dumped out and the male received an Osoyoos By-Law Municipal Ticket for Possession of Open Liquor in Park.
On July 27th RCMP South East District Marine Unit conducted boat patrols ofOsoyoosLake. Numerous boats were checked for mandatory safety equipment and proper licensing. 3 Federal Contravention Act tickets were issued and 4 Warnings were given
On July 27th, at approximately 6:30 pm, a Police Officer on foot Patrol located atGyroBeachconsuming a 2L bottle of wine cooler and highly intoxicated. The male was arrested for being Intoxicated in aPublic Placeand lodged in cells until sober for his own safety. Once sober he was issued a By-Law Violation Ticket and released.
On July 28th, Police were dispatched to a report of a man in distress on Nighthawk
Drive. The 48 year old Osoyoos man was severely intoxicated and was unable to care for himself. The male was arrested for Causing a Disturbance and being Intoxicated in aPublic Placeand was lodged in Police cells until sober.
On July 28th, a Police Officer on foot patrol ofCottonwoodParklocated 3 youth drinking beer in the Park. All 3 youth tried to hide the alcohol. A search of the area located additional alcohol which was destroyed at the scene. One of the youth was uncooperative with the Police and received a Ticket for Minor in Possession and Consuming Alcohol in aPublic Place, The youth was driven to his parents at a local hotel.
On July 28th, at 4:14 pm, Police responded to a call from BC Ambulance after 3 males overdosed on hash laced brownies. The 3 males had been transported to hospital in Oliver with 2 being in stable condition and one male being unconscious and suffering from shallow breathing. The unconscious male was later moved to the hospital inPentictonand placed in Intensive Care. The males had been at a summer residence in Osoyoos at the time when they ingested the drugs. Osoyoos RCMP executed a search warrant at the house and seized a number of drug related items. The 69 and 56 year old males from theLangleyarea recovered quickly and the 49 year oldLangleymale who had trouble breathing later recovered enough to breath on his own. He is expected to make a full recovery. The Police investigation is ongoing.
On July 28th, a Police Officer on bike patrol observed a male driving a 2009 Black Harley Davidson without a helmet. The driver was stopped and signs of alcohol impairment and an open beer were noted. The investigation resulted in the motorcycle being impoundment for 30 days and the 33 year old Driver fromSurreybeing issued a Violation Ticket for Fail to wear Helmet on motorcycle and a written warning for Possessing Open Liquor.
On July 29th, Police Officers responded to a report of approximately 6 people fighting on89th Streetnear the Elementary School. Police attended and located a 19 year old male Osoyoos resident who was bleeding from the nose and a small cut above his right eyebrow. The male was intoxicated and uncooperative with the Police and with Ambulance attendants. The fight was determined to be consensual and no criminal charges resulted.
