Fire 40% contained – not a big concern at moment

UPDATE: 7:00 a.m., Sunday July 29 – The Kamloops Fire Centre is reporting the fire above Wilson’s Landing is 40% contained. They also say crews made excellent progress constructing a guard around 40 per cent of the fire and continue to battle the blaze.

The fire is reported at four hectares in size and there are 25 firefighters and one helicopter working at the scene.

A lightning strike Friday night caused the fire to start about half a kilometre upslope of Westside Road.
