Alberto Coelho

September 26, 1929 – July 17, 2012

 

On Tuesday July 17, 2012, Mr. Alberto de Brito Coelho of Oliver passed away at Sunnybank Centre due to complications of a stroke at the age of 82 years. He was predeceased by his wife Celeste; daughter Rosa Edwards and grandson Dakota McNab. Alberto will be fondly remembered by his loving family including son Joe (Cathy); daughter Linda (Danny) McNab; grandsons Andrew (Christie) Coelho, Peter (Shannon) Coelho, Justin (Naomi) Edwards and Chad (Vicky) Edwards; granddaughter Kaitlin McNab; great-granddaughters Lucy Coelho and Avie Coelho; two brothers and two sisters in Portugal as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada, U.S. and Portugal. When Alberto first arrived in Canada, he worked in construction. He then became a cabinet maker in Calgary. When the family moved to Oliver, Alberto took up being a orchardist. Over the years Alberto made a few trips back to Portugal to visit family and made many trips to Calgary and Kitimat to visit close friends. Alberto was a long time member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Prayers were recited at 7:00 P.M. Friday July 20, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church. A funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Gabriel at 1:30 P.M. Saturday July 21, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment and committal followed at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.
