
July 2012 – Osoyoos Town Council tells Fortis it cannot endorse the use of Smart Meters and said it was a relationship between 2000 Osoyoos consumers and the company where the agreement should come from noting that the BC Utilities Commission is the final arbiter in this situation once an application is made.
January 2012 – Oliver Town Council endorsed a motion calling for a moratorium on the use of Smart Meters on home electrical inputs. Oliver joins a long list of other municipalities concerned about health risks and desires to work with the Union of BC Municipalities in getting more information on meters that emit radio waves.
September 2011 – UBCM delegates from across the province voted 55 per cent in favour of a moratorium on installation of smart meters at the annual convention in Vancouver.
