On July 9th, 2012, at approximately 8:03PM, the Oliver RCMP were notified by BC Coroner Service of a Sudden Death on Gallagher Lake, approximately 5Km north of Oliver, BC. The deceased, a 32 year old Oliver female, was believed drowned after falling out of a paddle boat into the lake sometime between 6 and 6:20PM earlier that evening. Witnesses attempted to perform CPR prior to transporting the victim to South Okanagan General Hospital where she was subsequently pronounced deceased. The primary cause of death is believed to be drowning with alcohol and prescription drug consumption as potential aggravating factors. The RCMP will be assisting the BC Corners Service with completing their investigation.
