On June 19, 2012 @ 21:52 Hours Oliver Fire Department and RCMP were dispatched to report a car fire approximately 5km towards Mt.Baldy, on Camp McKinney Rd. On arrival at scene it was confirmed that a 1995 GMC Jimmy was off road, in the ditch on north side of roadway. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle advised that she had been east-bound on Camp McKinney Rd. when she drifted onto the right shoulder. The driver over-corrected and the vehicle ended up in the opposite side ditch. On striking the ditch, the vehicle rolled 2-3 times coming to rest in an upright position. As the driver exited the vehicle, it caught on fire and was fully engulfed in moments. The driver received minor bumps and scrapes but was not seriously injured. The fire was quickly suppressed by Oliver Fire Dept and there was no risk to local forests. Neither speed not alcohol were contributing factors and no charges against the driver are being considered.
