On Saturday June 23, Simranprit (Simmi) Kaur Sidhu (R.N.) married Justin Singh Boparai (M.D.)
Locals well know the Sidhu family as friends, fellow students, and co-workers, and as patrons of the Best of India restaurant. Today Jas and Mandeep Sidhu said goodbye to their third daughter Simmi, a young lady whom many will remember as a beautiful dancer at countless community and school events, a soft-hearted nursing student at SOGH, and a smiling, gracious server at Best of India.
The partying began earlier in the week, culminating with a ladies’ dinner and dance on Friday night and an all-out celebration beginning at 9:00 Saturday morning, continuing with the marriage ceremony at Bhav Sagar Gurudwara at mid-day. Dining and dancing continued all afternoon, until the emotional “bidai” (leavetaking). More parties continue on Sunday. Mandeep Sidhu wrote a lovely tribute to her daughter, including words of wisdom about how important it is for parents to raise their children well, and how hard it is for a mother to say goodbye to her daughters. Her words, read aloud by another family member at the conclusion of the temple ceremony, were very emotional for all.
The bride was decked out in rich red, dripping with sparkling jewelry. The groom wore white, with a red stole and turban. They made a handsome couple. By all accounts they are well-suited – each with a warm, generous nature. The couple will reside in Surrey.
Best wishes Simmi and Justin!
