Oliver Fire Department asked for assistance at 8:25 this morning by the RDOS landfill. Two trucks responded. A spokesman at the garbage dump said that “some matting” possibly underlay was smouldering and just would not go out. He said it might have soaked in a flammable fluid.

Fearing that the smouldering mass could ignite and get out control – the fire department was called.
