Apprenticeship Program – The district will be receiving $20 thousand to maintain the present programme and look to improving the grade 6/7 program to make it more hands on.

Union leadership – Ron Rachinski – elected president for another year as leader of the South Okanagan Similkameen Teachers Union.

Retirees: 8 teachers and 5 support staff retiring this year in the district with a thank you dinner held June 13 at Fairview Mtn.

Operations Budget: Approved for the next year – down by $350 thousand – cuts needed in spending found in staff and supplies.

Year round schooling – board asked to respond. No real demand from parents or community. Works well in some areas but has been studied here before.

District will hold next meeting in September.
