A popular Shuswap area politician has passed away after a short illness.
Ted Bacigalupo, Area ‘C’ Director – Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) died on the Wednesday evening. He was first elected in 1999 to represent the region around Sorrento and north of Salmon Arm.
Bacigalupo represented a rural area but was respected widely in the Okanagan – Shuswap. He was elected Chair of the CSRD board this year and was the chair of the Okanagan Regional Library Board for the last five years.
The ORL is governed by a Board of 25 elected officials representing municipalities, regional districts, and First Nations under the leadership of Board Chair Ted Bacigalupo.
He will missed.

Acting ORL Chair Carol Zanon added: “I am so very sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. Over and above the wonderful person that he was, he was a true leader and a strong advocate for public libraries in our province. Until he was stricken ill, he never missed a meeting, and was generous with his advice and wisdom on library issues. Those of us who knew him will recognize that his death is a great loss.”
The ORL extends is sincere condolences to Ted’s family.
