In discussions Monday, the Oliver Town Council has directed staff and consultant Urban Systems to bring forward the new Zoning Bylaw with a number of matters clarified prior to going to public hearing.
Permitted uses in the M2 Industrial Zone will expand to include sawmills, abbatoirs and restaurants but council has eliminated asphalt plants as they are not consistent with BC Government regulations. Gravel crushing and the processing of other material including cement would be allowed along with auto recycling.
First and second reading of a bylaw to that effect will come up June 25 and then a public hearing will be set.
Both owners of the Industrial Park lands and nearby residents/community were consulted during the process of redefining future use of such land.
