Open Door Group and the South Okanagan Employment Service Network hosted two community open houses at the new WorkBC Employment Services Centres in Oliver and Osoyoos this week.
The goal of each open house is to provide an opportunity for the South Okanagan community to learn more about the employment services available to local job seekers and employers through the new Employment Program of BC.
The program is designed to deliver an integrated system of employment services and supports for unemployed British Columbians. The program is being delivered through WorkBC Employment Services Centers in communities across the province and will provide a one-stop center for employment and labour market services to support clients, employers and communities.
“We are confident that here in Oliver and Osoyoos, people can now access the supports and services they need through the WorkBC Employment Services Centres to get back into the workforce ,” said MLA John Slater. ”Having the full range of employment services available to people here in our communities will make a big difference in helping people find, and keep, jobs.”
Open Door Group is a non-profit organization and registered charity that operates on the fundamental belief that all British Columbians can succeed. Over the past three decades, Open Door Group have grown to serve over thousands of British Columbians per year across the Lower Mainland and Interior. Open Door Group provides opportunities for achievement through employment programs and health and wellness programs.
The new Employment Program of BC is part of the BC Jobs Plan. Canada Starts Here: The BC Jobs Plan builds on the Province’s solid foundation of prudent fiscal management to attract investment and open new markets for B.C. products and services, and to create jobs for British Columbians. As part of the plan, B.C. is making smart investments in infrastructure and is working hard to ensure British Columbians have the right skills for tomorrow.
