Tinhorn Creek Vineyards announces a charity concert to raise funds for Southern Okanagan Secondary School, which burned down in September of 2011. Headlining the event June 24 is Vancouver-based five-piece roots and alternative rock band – The Matinee. The same day that a raging fire destroyed Southern Okanagan Secondary School (SOSS) this past September, the group immediately offered help out in any way they could.
Having played in Oliver last year, The Matinee felt a connection to this small community. “As soon as we heard about the school burning down we were compelled to help out, as we had played at the school,” says Matt Layzell, lead vocalist. The band has toured through many BC schools over the past four years. “We loved playing the old theater at the school and we were saddened to hear about the damage suffered in the fire.”
