A rewrite of a zoning bylaw that is about 27 years old has been exposed again to public input but only 3 taxpayers attended the council session Monday afternoon.
A Urban Systems report given to council outlined polling results from industrial land owners and residents who attended a town hall meeting in April.
The industrial land owners would prefer the M2 zone stay the same. Residents in the Sawmill Rd area would like to see the elmination of uses like gravel crushing or asphalt plants.
Owner Chris Jentsch who attended the session says concrete plants should be allowed as it is proven by locations both in Oliver and Penticton not to be a problem to residents or businesses nearby.
Three representatives of Urban Systems, a consultancy group, outlined the recent changes made- asked for by council and were instructed by several motions to rework it again before first reading later this month.
A public hearing will be held in July prior to its passage.
The two items that are still in contention are the M2 Industrial zone and the matter of grandfathering parking requirements in the old Main Street business district.
