The Wine Country Racing Association (WCRA) will host the final race of the spring racing season on June 10th, at Richter Pass Motorplex in Osoyoos, BC.
47 cars were in attendance at the May 27 race, completing 179 separate drag races for the fans’ entertainment.
Kyle Scanlon of Kelowna (black Mazda RX7) defeated Kevin Clarke of Penticton (Black Chevrolet Cobalt) for the top prize in the Sportsman Warrior bracket.
Walt Pearce from Twisp, WA raced his 1932 Chevrolet Coupe to victory in the Sportsman Bracket, defeating Osoyoos’ Tim Heibert. Tim drives a black 1990 Ford Mustang.
Lee Deshaw of Tonasket took the Pro Bracket victory in his yellow 1929 Plymouth, defeating Don Cachola from Oliver. Don was racing his wife, Shana’s, pink 1972 Nova.
The Pro Bracket Fast win went to Ralph Pool of Kelowna. Ralph drove his green 1968 Baracuda against Neil Ericson from Osoyoos. Ericson was driving his yellow 1969 Chevrolet Camaro.
Warren Brown from Oliver reigned victorious in the Bike/Sled class. Brown snagged the win on his green Kawasaki motorcycle, defeating Steve Clement of Penticton (black 2006 Yamaha snowmobile).
Okanagan Valley summers are too hot for drivers and cars alike. The club takes July and August off and will return in September. For those fans who need a speed fix, next Sunday will be the last chance for a while.
The gate opens at 9 a.m. for drivers and 10 a.m. for fans. The racing action begins around 11 a.m. The final elimination event begins around 1 p.m. Cost is $10, with anyone under 12 admitted free with an adult.
