On May 22, 2012 the Oliver RCMP were informed that two Oliver residents were traveling on an e-bike eastbound on Fairview Rd towards Oliver. A red Chrysler minivan was traveling westbound and came into oncoming lane causing them to go onto the gravel and fall over. The van continued westbound without stopping and no plate number was obtained; no collision between the vehicles. Both driver and passenger of the e-bike sustained some injuries consisting of a shattered collar bone, cracked rib and a bruised hand (driver) and a hand injury and badly scraped knee requiring stitches (passenger). Public assistance is requested in identifying the suspect vehicles.
The Oliver RCMP are actively looking to deter transient fruit pickers from camping along the Canal. Restrictions under the Fisheries Act apply and the public should be aware Oliver RCMP personnel will respond to complaints in an effort to maintain the safe and clean aspect of our Community.
On May 23, 2012 an agriculturalist residing on No. 15 Road reported the theft of his Blue 1979 Ford tractor and pallet jack from his farm in Oliver.
The Oliver RCMP has been receiving increased complaints of graffiti showing up in the Community. On May 30, 2012 two incidents of fresh graffiti were reported in the area of Station Street. Public assistance is requested in identifying suspects.
On May 26, 2012 On 2012-05-26 at 17:00 RCMP were dispatched to a pedestrian vs motor vehicle collision on 326th Ave near the bridge. Investigation showed that a 13 year old was roller-blading in the area and had cut across 326th Ave without shoulder checking. The 13 year old struck the passenger side of an oncoming vehicle then fell to the ground. The youth was wearing a helmet and was not serious injured although he did get road rash on his arms, legs, and face.
On May 27, 2012 Oliver RCMP responded to report a 4 vehicle collision on McKinney Road at Badger Street. The driver of a Red 1998 Honda Prelude reported that he had just pulled out and was driving West on McKinney Road as the driver of a White 1992 Cadillac was driving east on McKinney Road. The Cadillac turned left onto Badger Street and struck the front end of Red Honda. The White Cadillac then knocked down the stop sign at that location and collided with the back end of a parked truck 1994 Ford pickup which was hit with sufficient force to push it into a 2003 Grey Chevrolet pickup that was also parked in the area. Minor non-life-threatening injuries were sustained by the driver of the Cadillac. Neither speed nor alcohol were considerations in this crash.
On May 27, 2012 RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle motor vehicle accident involving a grey 2007 Mazda 3 bearing Quebec plate on Fairview Rd several kilometers west of Willowbrook Rd. The driver reported that he had lost control of the vehicle on the gravel road, turning the vehicle sideways before rolling several times. The 29 year old male driver and his two female passengers complained of neck and back soreness and were taken to South Okanagan General Hospital for non life threatening injuries. Speed relative to road surface and local knowledge were factors in this crash.
