Beer and music – a pair as old as civilization. Although some would argue that it is more than just a coincidence that beer, music and civilization are roughly the same age, it is safe to say that the local brewery was always been one of the main hubs of a community, where the townsfolk would share the fruits of the brewers’ labour and enjoy local tunes. And now there’s one here in Oliver!

The Firehall Brewery is a fusion of two passions: craft beer & music. When us “Brewin’ Ruhlands” decided to get busy building a brewery, we knew music would play an important role in the company. Not only did jamming out help release some start-up stress, but now we “rhythm condition” the beer by playing music in the resonate brewery bunker (okay, the sound waves may not have a noticeable effect on the flavour, but we’d like to think so). But there’s got to be more than just our music, because just like beer, music is always best shared.

We’re busy building a beverage garden and stage at this very moment, and on four summer dates we’ll be opening the back-alley gate behind the Old Firehall on Main Street. For $10 a ticket (plus HST, pre-sold at the Firehall Bistro in limited quantities), you can come and have a great time enjoying live music and relaxing under the colourful psychedelic shade-sails. The brewery’s house band, The Procrastinators, will be opening for other entertaining acts, such as Forever Young (Neil Young tribute band) playing on June 9th. Music will range in genre from folk to rock to reggae to country, so there’s something for everyone!

Parking is situated in the alley behind the Old Firehall, in Oliver’s aging industrial sector, but since we are located right downtown, we are short walk away from anywhere in town and a block away from Centennial RV Park campsite. Gates open at 6:30pm, the music will kick off at 7pm, and the echoes will reverberate around the industrial park until 9pm. You must be 19 years of age to attend, though the Firehall Bistro family restaurant will be open on the upper level during this time. We will be selling beverage tickets at the gate, which can be redeemed for fresh draught ales brewed by Firehall Brewery, as well as bottled water. BBQed foods will also be available for sale.
