Town of Oliver’s 2012 budget is increasing 1.2%. The tax bill on an average home in Oliver is $462 (General Tax including Fire). In Penticton that same tax levy is $1186. In Peachland $831.
In 2012 10.9 million dollars will be spent of which more than half is on water capital projects and services.
When you receive your tax notice – only 27% of the total tax bill goes to the Municipality – the rest is School taxes, RCMP, Library, Hospital, BC Assessment and the RDOS.
Mayor Ron Hovanes says council is determined to secure funding to complete the water twinning project, to undergo a core services review, to attract a hotel and strive to communicate better with the public.
Hovanes says the backbone of the community is the volunteers. This year individuals and service clubs will contribute a new band shell at the local park, cemetery improvements and community celebrations.
