RCMP Cst. Claudette St. Thomas of the West Kelowna Detachment told Castanet that the plane appeared to need to land as it was turning around to head to Peachland before crashing. The wreckage spotted about 300 metres from the Highway.
No one survived the float plane crash Sunday night near Brenda Mine, off of Hwy. 97C.
Witnesses tell police they noticed the plane appeared to be in distress because it was flying very low.
It’s possible the pilot may have been trying to land on the Connector.
The plane was returning to Pit Meadows after a flight to Kelowna. Family of those on the flight say there were three people on the plane.
Family members say two individuals were dropped off in Kelowna, leaving three people to make the return flight.
Emergency crews were called to the scene just before 7 p.m., they had to hike through the forest to get to the crash site.
The ministry of forests attended to control a small forest fire caused by the crash. RCMP have yet to releaseofficial information.
